For-Hire Carrier
Transports others' goods for payment.

What is your vehicle's total weight?​

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is the value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single motor vehicle.

Combined License Weight (CLW) shall mean:

the greater of: (a) The declared combined maximum gross weight of the vehicle and any towed unit for registration purposes for the current registration period; or (b) The highest actual combined gross weight of the vehicle and any towed unit when operated on the public highways of the state during the current Registration. Per KRS 138.655 Subsection (14)

A USDOT # is not required. If picking up and dropping off the same cargo For-Hire Carrier in Kentucky, you will need KY Intrastate For-Hire License. You will need to fill out the TC95-1 and mail to KYTC . Directions are included in the form.
10,001 - 26,000 lbs.​ GVWR
A USDOT # is required (apply via FMCSA ) and must be displayed. If For-Hire, Federal Motor Carrier Authority (MC #) required  (apply via FMCSA ). If power unit has 3 or more axels, International Fuel Tax International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTAlicense is requiredInternational Registration Plan (IRP) may be required. Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is required. If picking up and dropping off the same cargo For-Hire in Kentucky, you will need KY Intrastate For-Hire License. You will need to fill out the TC95-1 and mail to KYTC . Directions are included in the form.
Greater than 26,000 lbs.
CLW*

60,000 - 80,000 lbs. CLW*

If For-Hire, Federal Motor Carrier Authority (MC #) required  (apply via FMCSA ). Kentucky Highway Use mileage tax (KYU) license is required. International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTAlicense is requiredInternational Registration Plan (IRP) is required. Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is required. If picking up and dropping off the same cargo For-Hire in Kentucky, you will need KY Intrastate​ For-Hire License. You will need to fill out the TC95-1 and mail to KYTC .
