New standard and Voluntary Travel ID
s will become available at Circuit Court Clerk’s office
locations in early 2019, beginning in specific counties extending to all 120 Kentucky counties by spring 2019. This phased approach is necessary to install new equipment to make the application process faster and to ensure operational support to more than 140 locations.
A rollout schedule will be posted in the fall after scoping work is complete in conjunction with the license vendor and Circuit Court Clerk’s
to address each location’s unique layout and needs.
Kentucky submitted an extension letter to the federal Department of Homeland Security, requesting that airlines and restricted federal facilities continue accepting driver's licenses and personal ID cards as an acceptable form of identification.
New card design has been completed and unveiled.
Kentucky was granted another extension from the Department of Homeland Security extension. This extension expires August 1, 2019.
Upgraded, modern equipment will be placed in Circuit Court Clerk offices around the Commonwealth in order to process applications quickly and securely.
A phased rollout of new driver’s licenses, IDs and Voluntary Travel IDs will be implemented.
