Over 55 Driver Improvement Courses

​​​​Over 55 Driver Improvement Courses are specialized programs aimed at enhancing driving skills, raising safety awareness, and supporting older drivers as they adjust to evolving traffic laws and personal physical changes that may impact driving abilities. These courses focus on critical topics, including safe driving strategies, the effective use of vehicle safety features (such as seat belts and airbags), navigating complex driving situations, and understanding how medications may affect driving.

In accordance with 601 KAR 13:340, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has reviewed the applications for Over 55 Driver Improvement Courses listed below. Each approved provider's curriculum meets Kentucky's regulatory standards. Course approval shall be valid for not more than a two (2) year period. A nominal fee applies, and participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion.​

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet does not endorse any specific course provider. These organizations are independent and are not affiliated with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.​

Drivers over 55 who are interested in using the course to lower their insurance premiums should consult with their individual insurance providers to verify eligibility for discounts.

Driving schools seeking curriculum approval for listing should complete TC Form 94-180 and submit all required documents to:
