Kentucky residents may not need to visit a Driver Licensing Regional Office to renew their driver’s license or ID. This short quiz helps determine if you can renew online or by mail, or if you can “skip the line” when an in-person visit is required. You must visit a Regional office to upgrade to a REAL ID.

💡PRO TIP: Not flying anytime soon? You may want to delay your walk-in office visit or schedule an appointment after the current rush.

Did you know a REAL ID isn’t required for travel if you already have another federally approved ID, like a valid passport or passport card, military ID, or Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)? Learn more at realidky.com.

Vision Specialist + Renew Online or Mail

Visit your vision specialist for a TC 94-202 form, then renew online or by mail. Compare these options HERE.

Regional Office + Renew Online

Visit any Regional Office for a no-cost vision screening, and receive a one-time passcode to use to renew online at DLRenewal.Ky.gov.

Regional Office + Renewal Form

Visit any Regional Office for a no-cost vision screening, request a renewal form to complete in the office, and submit. You will receive a temporary license by email.

You’ll need to visit a Regional Office to complete your renewal.
