• Online (myDrive): Eligible customers may renew through the myDrive portal with a verified account. Address updates can be completed during the process. REAL ID upgrades are not available online.
• By Mail: Eligible customers may renew by mail using the appropriate form. Address updates can be completed during the renewal. REAL ID upgrades are not available by mail.
• In Person: Visit a Regional Office to renew your ID card, upgrade to a REAL ID, or complete a name change. All services are available in person.

If your ID card has been lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, you may request a replacement.

1. Update your name with the Social Security Administration

   You must update your name with the Social Security Administration before applying for a new ID card. Your information must match SSA records before your application can be processed at a Regional Office.

2. Gather your name change documents

   Bring your updated Social Security card and legal documentation PDF showing your name change, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court order, or other approved legal name change document.

3. Complete a pre-application on myDrive, if desired

   Completing a pre-application through myDrive can help ensure you bring the correct documents and save time during your visit to a Regional Office.

4. Visit a Driver Licensing Regional Office

   Name changes must be completed in person at a Regional Office. A $15.00 fee applies.
